GENERAL
DESCRIPTION ON CLW 170
Curtain wall CLW 170 is a new certified system.
FIELD OF APPLICATIONS
The system is designed to create curtain wall for multy-storey buildings
with load-bearing structures in reinforced concrete, steel or a
combination of the two, such as hotels, public buildings, schools,
etc...
STRUCTURE
The curtain wall consits of an aluminium profile structure forming
a series of large "cells". Each cell can be fitted with
elements (solid or glazed panels) which finishing are fastened directly
to the primary structure with a special profile (patented together
with the overall system). The horizontal and vertical sides of the
cells are joined together by special telescopic couplings which
absorb thermal expansion and minor scismic shocks and completely
eliminate any noise or cracks that these phenomena may produce.
The standard joint is approximately 66 mm width and 177 mm height.
We can also made curtain
wall with traditional system uprights and cross-pieces. All this
is studied to offer an infinity typologies of curtain wall, vertical,
inclined, curved, etc...with simplicity and few accessories.
Our special joint between horizontal and vertical profiles lets
the water flow away as a "rain-pipe", this is possible
because our profiles have a double pipe inside them.
It is also possible use this curtain wall in inclined curtain-wall.
EXTERNAL FRAME
Aluminium profiles which made external frame are supply into two
different version of sealing glazed panel or other material; the
first is easy and the second (named CLW170-t.b.) with thermal break
in polyamide bars to guarantee a perfect thermal insulation. In
each case the total aluminium surface is smaller than 10%.
The system used to fit the glazed panels (or panels in other materials)
to the cells is really easy. It utilizes especially-designed aluminium
profiles and sealing strips thar assure a perfect mechanical seal
of the panel. From the exterior is visible, only a very small part
of the aluminium profile which is almost on the same level of the
external glass. The shutter between the two frames is at least 10mm.
(see joint here attached).
We can supply other two
system of finish, one is with a 45° grinded glass as the system
Clima G175 and other with a structural sealing using special silicones.
As well as a wide range
of reflecting glass, which offers an infinity of combinations of
colour, thickness and composition of the glazed cells, it is also
possible to use numerous other finishing materials, including natural
or synthetic marble, plastic laminates, pre-enamelled sheet metal,
silk screened or printed glass, etc....
OPENING SYSTEM
All frames can be equipped with opening systems and also after installation
fixed frames can be changed into opening ones adding the handle,
if required.
From external viewed there are not difference between opnening system
and fixed ones.
The opening system is suitable for use each type of internal blinds
or curtains also because the lower edge of the window opens outwards.
The uprights (if required before installation) are on the same plane
as the cros-pieces so each modular axis can be joined to suspended
ceilings and internal partition walls without use a special connector
element.
MOUNTING CELLS ON
THE STRUCTURE
The way of mounting cells on the building structure changes from
site to site. Any method used allows to be adjusted the curtain
wall among all three axes. Furthermore, in this way we are able
to reduce vibration, expansion and earthquake movements, as well
as providing positive and negative flexion in response to accidental
loads on floor slabs. Every cells is mounted on the building in
an autonomous manner with respect to the adjacent cells on all sides.
Also, every cell can be precision adjusted for perfect correction
of out-of-level error between the floors of the "raw"
building structure and out-of-line error in the cell row of the
same floor.
Except in a very few cases, this curtain wall system can be installed
without scaffolding or additional expense on the part of the construction
company.
THE PRINCIPAL STEPS
IN INSTALLATION ARE:
- tracing out
- placement of brackets, vertical plumbing, horizontal alignment
and attachment of the brackets on building floors using Halfen-type
rods, set pins, welding
- distribution of curtain wall to the brackets that were previously
installed
- installation of sheet metal trim
- sealing of interior and exterior perimeters
- adjustement of opening systems
CERTIFICATIONS
The air-tightness test, which is in compliance with UEAtc European
Standards (from ICITE - CNR in S.Donato MI), resulted a class A3
in air-permeability.
The water-tightness test,
which is in compliance with UEAtc European Standards (from ICITE
- CNR in S.Donato MI), resulted a class E4 in water-permeability.
The result of the wind-resistance
test, which is in compliance with UEAtc European Standards (from
ICITE - CNR in S.Donato MI), showed no functional deterioration
after pressure and depresure give in this way a class V3 in wind-resistance.
